Building New Pathways for Parents is a parenting model for understanding and responding to the needs of the developing brain for all ages. This three part series will provide parents with fundamental information about the developing brain, challenging behaviours and strategies for building resilience through regulation and relationship building.

Running over three weeks, these 90 minute sessions will explore the key stages of brain development and common behaviour challenges that can arise throughout development, including:

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Difficulties with self-soothing and self-regulation

  • Feeding difficulties/Picky eating

  • Hyperactivity

  • Sensory sensitivities

  • Anxiety

  • Aggressive behaviour

  • Oppositional behaviour

  • Social and relational difficulties

  • Learning difficulties

    The overview of sessions is as follows:

    Session 1: An introduction to the developing brain and understanding challenging behaviours (60 min presentation + 30 Q and A) – Cost = FREE

    Session 2: Reducing challenging behaviours: Strategies for safety and regulation (60 min presentation + 30 min Q and A) – Cost = $80pp

    Session 3: Finding the balance between connection and correction: Building connections while creating boundaries (60 min presentation + 30 min Q and A) – Cost = $80pp

Throughout each session you will learn:

  • The foundations of brain development

  • How to understand the language of your child’s nervous system

  • How adverse experiences can impact of the developing brain and behaviours

  • How to understand diagnoses such as ADHD, ODD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder and anxiety through the lens of brain development

  • Develop a renewed understanding of your child’s behaviours through the lens of the ‘Needs Map’

  • How to respond to the need rather than react to behaviour

  • Explore a range of strategies to respond to the underlying needs of the developing brain

  • Explore strategies for common behaviours such as sleep difficulties, meltdowns, tantrums, technology transitions

  • How to set nurturing boundaries without rupturing connection in the relationship

An online recording of the sessions will be made available to all registered attendees if you are unable to attend on the day.
