The NEST Program for Childhood Trauma
The NEST Program.
Phil is the developer of NeuroSensory Therapeutic (NEST) Program in collaboration with Ability Focus Occupational Therapy. The NEST Program is a 6-month intensive program that integrates psychology and occupational therapy.
It is an intervention that seeks to support children and adolescents who have experienced trauma to regulate their nervous system while developing attachment security with their caregivers.
Children who have experienced trauma may present with a range of challenges which may include: sleep difficulties, hyperactivity, impulsive behaviours, sensory processing difficulties, anxiety, emotional outbursts and oppositional or aggressive behaviour.
The NEST Program supports children and their parents/caregivers to learn the essential skills and strategies to support sequential brain development. Key areas of focus for the program will include sensory processing, attunement and co-regulation, emotion regulation, play skills, social skills and building the capacity for resilience.
